The UK plans to quadruple the installed capacity of offshore wind power to 40,000 megawatts by 2030. This is equivalent to half of the total annual electricity generation in the UK currently using various resources.

Johnson will announce the investment plan in the closing speech of the Conservative Party's annual convention. The plan will invest 160 million pounds (about 208 million US dollars), which will be used to build seaports and a new generation of wind turbine manufacturing plants. The project will create a total of 60,000 jobs, and the newly built offshore wind farm will have a capacity of 10,000 megawatts. According to the British government, this will be 15 times the total offshore wind power capacity of the rest of the world.

The British government hopes to use this plan to stimulate employment, restore the economy, and help the country achieve the goal of zero carbon emissions by 2050.

More than 42,000 people died from the new crown virus in the UK, the highest among European countries. The number of newly confirmed cases has been rising recently. The country’s economy has also been hit hard. Reuters quoted economists’ forecasts and reports that according to the current situation, the UK’s economic contraction this year will be the worst in 100 years.
